Ontario Refurbishing Five Hydroelectric Stations in Niagara Region

  • For more than 100 years hydroelectric power from Niagara Falls has powered our province, and with today’s $1 billion investment we’re extending the life of these stations by another 30 years to help Ontario meet growing demands for electricity.
  • The refurbished Sir Adam Beck Generating Stations will provide 1700 MW of clean electricity for the province – the equivalent to powering 1.7 million homes – while creating 200 good-paying jobs over the 15 year life of the project.
  • This refurbishment program – in partnership with Ontario Power Generation and GE Vernova – is part of our Powering Ontario’s Growth plan and will ensure we have the power for the next major international investment, the new homes we are building and industries as they grow and electrify.
  • Unlike previous government’s that drove up the cost of power, we’re investing in clean, reliable and affordable power from nuclear and hydroelectric to keep bills down.
