Province Protecting Ontario With the Buy Ontario Act

Our government is stepping up to protect workers and businesses by making Buy Ontario mandatory for public procurement, so tax dollars support Ontario jobs and products, not foreign competitors.

In the face of global uncertainty and U.S. tariffs, the Buy Ontario Act will ensure our province’s $30 billion in annual procurement is spent right here at home.

Our Buy Ontario policy will prioritize first Ontario and then Canadian goods and services, while still maintaining value for money for Ontario taxpayers and protecting procurement and major infrastructure projects from undue delays.

We will also hold public sector organizations and vendors accountable, with strong compliance measures like audits and penalties, so local businesses have a fair shot at government contracts.

While harmful tariffs are creating uncertainty for businesses and workers, our government is strengthening local supply chains, safeguarding manufacturing jobs, and making sure every public dollar helps Ontario families and workers first.
