Ontario’s Nuclear Expansion Creating More than 350 Jobs in Cambridge
- Ontario is creating over 350 good-paying jobs at BWXT Canada in Cambridge through over $1 billion in nuclear energy contracts.
- Ontario Power Generation (OPG) has signed two major contracts with BWXT Canada:
- A $960 million contract to manufacture 48 steam generators for the refurbishment of the Pickering Nuclear Generating Station, supporting over 250 jobs.
- A contractto manufacture the reactor pressure vessel for the Darlington Small Modular Reactor (SMR) project, supporting 100 additional jobs.
- BWXT Canada is the first manufacturer in North America to produce reactor pressure vessels for SMRs, strengthening Ontario’s position as a global leader in nuclear technology.
- This investment builds on BWXT’s recent $80 million expansion of its Cambridge facility, which is already one of the largest commercial nuclear manufacturing facilities in North America.
- Under Premier Ford’s PC government, Ontario is delivering affordable, reliable energy while creating jobs and growing the economy, ensuring families and businesses thrive today and into the future.
