Ontario Takes Next Step to Build New Jail in Brockville
March 16, 2026
As part of our government’s plan to keep dangerous offenders behind bars, we are investing over $3 billion to build and expand jail and correctional facilities across the province.
Once complete, the new Brockville Correctional Complex will add 270 beds, while the expansion of the St. Lawrence Valley Correctional and Treatment Centre will add 25 beds, bringing a total of 295 new beds to Eastern Ontario.
This project is part of the 1,436 new adult correctional beds being added across Ontario by 2032, with additional expansions, totalling hundreds of new beds, to be announced in the coming months.
Our government is making sure dangerous and repeat offenders are kept off the streets by making bail more stringent and consequential for people accused of serious crimes.
By expanding correctional capacity and bringing new beds online faster, we are protecting Ontario and keeping communities safe.
