Ontario Supporting Firefighters and Workers in South Stormont with $750,000 investment

  • As the world of work continues to change, our government strives to give people the tools they need to succeed and make Ontario the best place to live, work and raise a family.
  • Over the next decade, more than 500,000 additional workers are expected to be needed in skilled trades-related occupations in Ontario.
  • That’s why our government is investing over $750,000 to boost training in the South Stormont area to train workers and build capacity for the future.
  • The investment will support the training of firefighters and apprentices in the construction sector in South Stormont.
  • This includes $140,000 to facilitate the certification of firefighters through the Skills Development Fund (SDF) Training Stream and $617,000 to support the acquisition of training equipment for construction workers through the Apprenticeship Capital Grant program.
  • This brings our total investment through the Skills Development Fund (SDF) Training and Capital Stream to help train workers for well-paying and meaningful careers in their communities is up to $1.4 billion.
