Ontario Reducing Costs for Future Homeowners
- As electricity demand is set to rise by 75% by 2050, our government is making it easier and more affordable to connect these new homes and businesses to Ontario’s grid.
- Yet, red tape and legacy decisions from the Liberals continue to hold us back. That is why our government is taking a generational lens to fix a long-standing barrier for young Canadians to enter the housing market.
- As our population increases, our government will act decisively to cut costs for homebuyers and end the barriers to job-creating investment.
- We will do this by introducing new legislation to reduce costs for these “last-mile” connections and make building easier and more affordable.
- Later this year, our government will also convene the first meeting of a new Housing Electricity Growth Forum, which will bring together municipalities, utilities, industry leaders, and the OEB to discuss further ways to accelerate connections while reducing costs.
- While the Liberals imposed skyrocketing energy costs on families, our government is planning ahead to ensure affordable and reliable power for Ontario’s growth.
