Ontario Raising Minimum Wage to Protect Workers and Support a Competitive Economy
April 1, 2026
On October 1, 2026, Ontario is increasing the minimum wage from $17.60 to $17.95/hour, the second highest rate among other provinces.
This increase will benefit over 700,000 workers across the province and will allow full-time minimum wage workers to earn approximately $728 more per year.
This builds on our government’s broader economic and workforce initiatives, including Ontario’s multi‑year plan to invest in training, protect critical industries and safeguard workplaces across the province.
By continuing to increase wages, our government is taking steps to protect workers by ensuring fair wages, supporting job creation and helping businesses retain the workers they need to fill in-demand jobs in key sectors.
Under Premier Ford’s leadership, we’re continuing to take action to support both workers and employers by building a more self-reliant and competitive economy for generations to come.
