Ontario Protecting Transit Users From Illegal Drug Use

As part of our government’s plan to protect Ontario and keep communities safe, we’re introducing new measures to crack down on illegal drug use on transit and target illegal drug production.

Our proposed measures would give special constables the authority to stop the use of illegal drugs on transit and in transit areas and issue tickets or make arrests if people don’t comply.

By targeting illegal drug production and holding those who enable it accountable, we’re taking action to shut down operations and disrupt the supply of dangerous substances in our communities.

These measures build on previous public safety legislation and will form part of a broader upcoming legislative package to strengthen enforcement, protect communities and keep Ontarians safe.
