Ontario Protecting Fans by Capping Ticket Resale Prices

March 20, 2026

To protect fans and make live events more affordable, our government is proposing changes to the Ticket Sales Act that would cap ticket resale prices in Ontario.

If passed, tickets for concerts, sporting events, cultural events and other live entertainment could no longer be resold for more than their original all‑in purchase help ensure all Ontarians have the opportunity to attend premier live events across the province

The proposed changes would help stop professional resellers from driving up prices and ensure more families and fans have the opportunity to see their favourite band or sports team perform live.

The legislation would also strengthen ticket validity guarantees, ensuring consumers receive the tickets they paid for.

These measures build on our government’s broader efforts to protect consumers, increase transparency and make life more affordable for people across Ontario.
