Ontario Permitting Alcoholic Beverages on Pedal Pubs
June 30, 2025
- In the face of U.S tariffs and economic uncertainty, our government is building on a plan to protect Ontario by helping grow Ontario’s $32 billion provincial tourism industry, which supports 325,000 jobs and 92,000 businesses across the province.
- The province is boosting local tourism and strengthening small businesses by allowing alcohol to be served and consumed on large quadricycles, commonly known as pedal pubs, as of July 1st.
- Pedal pubs can seat 12 or more people and currently operate in Niagara-on-the-Lake, Toronto, Ottawa and Windsor – supporting local tourism in by taking people from one restaurant or bar to another in a fun and memorable way.
- Pedal pubs will be allowed to operate in a community only once the local municipality passes a by-law to permit their operations.
- As we work to protect Ontario and grow the economy, our government will continue to work with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario to maintain existing rigorous standards for licensing, regulation and social responsibility in the modern alcohol marketplace.
