Ontario Launching Road Safety Initiatives Fund

November 17, 2025

Our government is protecting communities and strengthening road safety by investing in proven traffic calming measures.

We’re banning cash-grab speed cameras that make life more expensive for drivers and taxpayers.

Through the Roads Safety Initiatives Fund, we’re investing $210 million to help municipalities construct speed bumps and raised crosswalks, as well as high visibility signage and increased police enforcement to stop speeding before it happens.

In response to public concerns over the increased use of municipal speed cameras as a revenue-raising tool, the Building a More Competitive Economy Act, which received Royal Assent on November 3, 2025, prohibits the use of municipal speed cameras as of November 14, 2025.
