Ontario Launches Canada’s First Occupational Exposure Registry to Protect Workers
February 24, 2026
The Occupational Exposure Registry is a new easy-to-use digital portal that allows workers to record and track exposure to hazardous substances in the workplace, giving them a secure record they can reference throughout their careers.
We’re making it easier for workers to track their exposures so illness and conditions can be monitored and caught as fast as possible, increasing workers’ chances for a longer and higher quality of life.
Workers can securely and anonymously submit exposure information for one of 11 designated hazardous substances, including asbestos, lead, mercury, and silica.
Because occupational illnesses can take years to appear, the registry supports long-term health protection by helping workers track exposures over time, supporting medical assessments if symptoms arise later in life.
Our government is ensuring worker safety and will continue to expand the digital portal with new features that allow workers to view, edit, and manage their exposure history across multiple jobs or worksites.
This initiative builds on our work to increase worker health and safety by providing modern, accessiblec and worker-focused tools that put prevention first and help protect workers and communities for years to come.
