Ontario Investing In Hydroelectric Energy

• For a century, hydroelectric power from the Madawaska and Ottawa Rivers has powered our province.
• Our investment of $1 billion will extend the life of 8 hydro stations by over 30 years to help Ontario meet growing demands for electricity.
• Together, these eight stations will provide just over 1,600 MW of clean electricity – the equivalent to powering 1.6 million homes – while creating 500+ good-paying jobs over the next 20 years.
• This refurbishment program – in partnership with Ontario Power Generation – is part of our Powering Ontario’s Growth Plan and will ensure we have the power for the next major international investment, the new homes we are building and industries as they grow and electrify.
• Unlike the liberals, our government will continue to deliver clean, reliable, and affordable energy, without imposing a costly carbon tax on families this summer.
