Ontario Increasing Wildland Firefighting Capacity

• The Ontario Government is safeguarding communities by bolstering our wildland firefighting program to ensure we are prepared to manage fires now and in the future.
• We are making critical investments in our wildland fire program – on the ground and in the air – to keep Ontario at the forefront of managing wildland fires. These investments include new aircraft and the hiring of additional firefighting staff.
• The funding will strengthen Ontario’s firefighting abilities through the retention and training of key personnel and the purchase of new support equipment, including trailers, fuel systems, tankers and trucks. Investments in IT, including software systems and hardware will also help boost Ontario’s wildland fire program.
