Ontario Implements “One Project, One Process” to Build Mines Faster

October 17, 2025

Ontario and Canada are facing unprecedented attacks on our economy, underscoring the need to move with speed and strengthen our self-reliance.

It can take up to 15 years to build and open a mine in Ontario — compared to 6–7 years in Australia, with Europe, British Columbia, and Alberta all moving faster. The status quo is unacceptable in today’s global landscape.

Moving at unprecedented speed, our government introduced and implemented the “One Project, One Process” (1P1P) framework in just six months.

We will transform Ontario from one of the slowest permitting jurisdictions in the OECD to the fastest in the G7 by cutting approval timelines by up to 50 per cent and requiring all necessary provincial approvals within two years — a binding deadline to “get to yes.”

This reform will unlock billions in GDP and create tens of thousands of jobs by ending unnecessary delays and holding government officials accountable for results.

Ontario’s plan will accelerate resource development, strengthen industrial supply chains, and position the province as a global leader in critical minerals and advanced manufacturing.

While the Liberals defend the status quo, our government under Premier Ford is protecting Ontario’s economic sovereignty and delivering the minerals the world needs — mined, refined, and built right here at home.
