Ontario Helping Workers Access Skills Training Faster
May 27, 2025
- Ontario workers are counting on us to have their backs by helping them access the skills training they need to stay on the job, despite the impact of U.S. tariffs.
- That’s why we’re cutting red tape to fast-track the construction of training centres, so more workers can get the skills they need now to stay on the job and power our economy forward for decades to come.
- We’re also proposing targeted reforms to strengthen the workforce and protect Ontarians from exploitation:
- Cracking down on job scams by requiring job posting platforms to let users report fake or fraudulent job ads—keeping jobseekers safe in their search for good-paying jobs.
- Leveling the playing field in construction by eliminating outdated procurement red tape that forces companies to duplicate health and safety credentials. If it’s accredited by Ontario’s Chief Prevention Officer, it counts—period.
- Streamlining the immigration system by allowing employers to submit Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) applications directly and electronically through the new OINP employer portal—cutting delays and getting more skilled workers on the job faster.
- To ensure Ontario builds a competitive and resilient workforce that is ready for whatever comes the province’s way, we’ll continue to make sure our $2.5 billion investment in SDF is going directly to the workers who need it most.
- This is all part of our plan to protect Ontario and help make it the best place to live, work, and raise a family.
