Ontario Government and Ontario Medical Association Reach Agreement to Increase Access to Primary Care
- Our government has received Arbitrator Kaplan’s decision regarding the first year of a new four-year physician services agreement with the Ontario Medical Association (OMA).
- This agreement builds on the $17.5 billion the province currently spends to connect people to family doctors, primary care and other services across the province, an increase of 50 per cent since we took office in 2018.
- This agreement, together with our historic investments to expand digital tools and expand education pathways for medical school students and internationally-trained doctors, will help achieve our goal of connecting everyone to primary care.
- This agreement also includes specific funding for targeted investments and our goal will be to work with the OMA to keep expanding access to family doctors and primary care, including in northern Ontario.
- Our government looks forward to continuing to work with the OMA as we implement this agreement that will connect more people to high-quality, patient-centred care from Ontario’s doctors.
