Ontario Expanding Basic Constable Training Program

  • As Ontario’s population continues to grow, our government is ensuring police services have the support, resources and tools they need to keep our communities safe.
  • That is why, starting in 2025, the Basic Constable Training program will accommodate an additional 80 recruits per year, with priority being given for small, medium-sized and First Nation police services.
  • The increased capacity will ensure police services get the qualified candidates they need to get boots on the ground faster and keep criminals off our streets.
  • The expanded enrollment will bring the total number of officers trained per year to 2,080.
