Ontario Driving Homegrown Innovation in Key Sectors
Our government is investing in made-in-Ontario research that will protect our economy, jobs and workers.
Today, we’re taking action to protect Ontario by investing $75 million in homegrown research and innovation through the province’s competitive research programs — the Early Researcher Awards and the Ontario Research Fund.
This funding will support 162 research projects across the province, helping institutions attract and retain top research talent, strengthen research capacity, and achieve discoveries that cement our province as a global leader in critical industries.
Investing in research and innovation project across the province will protect Ontario’s long-term economic growth by creating jobs and enabling groundbreaking discoveries and advancements in Ontario’s key sectors – like agriculture, auto manufacturing, information technology and the life sciences – to create new jobs, build a more competitive economy and improve the lives of residents.
By driving cutting-edge research at our world class post-secondary institutions, hospitals, and research institutions, people in Ontario, Canada and around the world will benefit from discoveries made in our own backyard.
