Ontario Cracking Down on Immigration Scams

• Our upcoming Working for Workers 6 Bill will introduce legislation to crack down on fraudulent immigration representatives who exploit newcomers.
• We are proposing to introduce tougher penalties including increased fines, multi-year bans and lifetime bans or violations under the Act for those who mispresent or counsel others to deceive the Ontario Immigrant Nominee Program (OINP) process.
• These changes would also create greater accountability and transparency between immigration representatives, employers and newcomers who are applying to the program.
• These reforms are yet another way we’re building a brighter future for Ontario – ensuring our province remains the best place to live, work and raise a family.
