Ontario and UK Forge Groundbreaking Clean Energy Partnership
September 23, 2025
Ontario is leading in clean energy innovation, with the Ontario Power Generation (OPG) and the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) signing a MOU to advance nuclear innovation and fusion energy.
The agreement positions Ontario as a secure supplier of tritium – a critical fuel for fusion which has the potential to transform global power systems, with just a small cup of fuel is able to power a home for a year.
As part of our government’s plan to protect Ontario, we’re continuing to leverage the province’s nuclear advantage to create more export opportunities that support good-paying jobs and build a more competitive, resilient and self-reliant economy in the face of U.S. tariffs.
From building the G7’s first Small Modular Reactor (SMR) to powering breakthroughs in fusion and medical isotopes, Ontario is leading the world’s clean energy future. We’re exporting our expertise, creating jobs at home and showing the world what energy security looks like.
