One-year anniversary of the October 7 attacks against Israel
- Today marks one year since Hamas’s horrific and antisemitic terrorist attack against Israelis, resulting in the murder of nearly 1,200 people and the kidnapping of hundreds more.
- Our thoughts and prayers go out to the families and loved ones of those who were killed in the attacks, as well as to those who continue to be held hostage. This includes many members of Ontario’s Jewish community, who maintain deep ties with family and loved ones in Israel.
- Our government continues to call for the safe and immediate return of the remaining hostages being held captive by Hamas.
- Since October 7, we have also seen an alarming rise in antisemitism, both here in Ontario and around the world.
- Now more than ever, we need to support our Jewish friends and neighbors and fight all forms of antisemitism and hate.
- Our government will continue to stand up against hate wherever it is found and work to foster understanding, unity, and respect in our province and communities.
- We pray for the immediate release of the hostages and for lasting peace, safety, and security for the people of Israel and for everyone in the region.
