November 5-11: Veterans’ Week

November 5, 2025

As today marks the beginning of Veterans’ Week, I encourage people across Ontario to pay tribute to those who have served and continue to serve our country in times of conflict and peace. Lest We Forget.

Ontario is home to over 149,000 veterans and this number continues to grow. We recognize our duty as a province to continue supporting them as they transition into civilian life.

Under the leadership of Premier Ford, our government is demonstrating its commitment to our veterans by passing the Honouring Veterans Act, 2024—a clear and lasting recognition of their service and sacrifice.

Through the Honouring Veterans Act, 2024, amendments were made to expand provincial recognition of our veterans, promote access to the Soldiers’ Aid Commission financial assistance program, and build opportunities for veterans to enter the skilled trades.

Earlier this year, our government established the Ontario Veterans Awards for Community Service Excellence to formally acknowledge veterans who exhibit exceptional and ongoing dedication to their communities after their military careers. This program collaborates with local Royal Canadian Legion branches and various community organizations to recognize and honour veterans.
