News Release: MPP Michael Kerzner Announces Ontario Trade Fund to Support Businesses Impacted by U.S Tariffs

Toronto — Today, MPP Michael Kerzner is pleased to announce that the Government of Ontario has officially opened applications for the Ontario Together Trade Fund (OTTF).

The Ontario Together Trade Fund (OTTF) supports small and medium-sized businesses impacted by U.S. tariffs. The fund offers grants and loans up to $5 million for projects that enhance interprovincial trade, re-shore production, and strengthen local supply chains. Eligible businesses must be Ontario-based, for-profit, with 3+ years of operations and 5+ full-time employees. Additional support services include compliance assistance, advisory support, and help with talent acquisition. Applications opened April 23, 2025, and remain open on a continuous basis through Transfer Payment Ontario (TPON).

Ontario Taking Action to Protect Workers Amid Economic Uncertainty

On April 7, 2025, the Ontario government unveiled an $11 billion support package to safeguard workers and businesses. Key measures include:

  • A six-month deferral of select provincially administered taxes (April 1 to October 1, 2025), providing up to $9 billion in cash flow support for 80,000 businesses
  • An additional $2 billion WSIB rebate for safe employers
  • Ongoing efforts to eliminate internal trade barriers, streamline approvals, and help businesses diversify and retrain

Ontario Investing $1 Billion in the Skills Development Fund (SDF)

The province is investing nearly $1 billion in new funding over three years, bringing the total SDF commitment to $2.5 billion. The funding supports:

  • $705 million for the SDF Training Stream
  • $150 million for the SDF Capital Stream to build and upgrade training centres

This initiative aims to reskill workers, protect jobs, and support economic growth amid global uncertainties.


Ontario Investing $1.3 Billion to Protect Manufacturing Jobs

The province is making a historic investment in manufacturing job protection and workforce development, supporting businesses facing global pressures and helping maintain Ontario’s economic competitiveness.
