Our government is delivering the high-quality long-term care that Ontario’s seniors deserve.
We continue to make progress on our $6.4 billion plan to build modern, safe and comfortable long-term care homes for seniors and residents.
Our government is well on the way to building 58,000 new and upgraded spaces across the province, while the previous Liberal government built only 611 net new spaces between 2011 and 2018, leaving a waitlist of over 40,000.
As of July 2026, 156 projects representing a total of 26,421 new and redeveloped spaces are completed, under construction or have Ministry approval to start construction across the province.
Our plan to improve care for residents is built on four pillars: staffing and care; quality and enforcement; building modern, safe and comfortable homes; and connecting seniors with faster, more convenient access to the services they need.
